CBA History

The Cornish Bluegrass Association was formed in the winter of 2003 by a small group of friends that shared a love of bluegrass music, particularly the banjo. The aim originally was to promote bluegrass and encourage potential bluegrass lovers by way of a bluegrass "picking weekend".

We put on our first dedicated bluegrass festival at Hendra Holiday Park, Newquay in September 2004 where we had 5 bands and an attendance of around 250 bluegrass fans. We followed that in 2005 with 10 bands and an attendance of close to 500.

By September 2006, with an established relationship with Hendra Holiday Park, we had to increase the size of the venue to accommodate nearly 800 people. The festival continues to go from strength to strength each year!

We have now established ourselves as one of the best festivals on the bluegrass calendar - offering not just a festival but a weekend at one of the UK's most popular holiday destinations which caters for the whole family.

Our aims have not changed; we still endeavour to promote bluegrass by putting on events and sessions throughout the year and we hope that this website will be used by bluegrass lovers all over the world.

"Keeping the circle unbroken"
